4TH MOTOR INSURANCE DIRECTIVE (2000/26/EC)

The 4th Motor Insurance Directive introduces specific provisions which apply to injured persons residing in a member state and are entitled to compensation for any damage to property or personal injury from road accidents which occurred in a State other than that in which the injured party is residing or to third countries, the national bureaux of which participate in the Green Card System, in so far as these accidents are caused by vehicles which are normally based or are insured in a member state of the European Union.
